One of Midland Memorial Hospital's main goals is to keep its nurses glad doing the job.  Angelina Winslett, the program's Medical Surgical Nurse Educator, said that they want them to be a part of their family. About 60% of new nursing grads leave the job in their first two years. Kyle Comin, a recent graduate who worked for a month, came to Midland Memorial just for the Versant RN Residency Program. He said that it's alarming to know that there is a shortage on nurses and so many people plan to become a nurse and then they go away.

Winslett said that some of the experts are nurses on the floor, they give hands on patient care, and they teach new nurses by instructing them what to be done at the hospital. This is a big help to new nurses like Kyle. The ability of someone who knows the profession has been in the profession and will still be in the profession. The ICU and CCU units offer extreme care to crucial patients at Midland Memorial Hospital. It's an important and a tough task for all nurses. Comin said, "We leave and pass off our skills to the next generation of nurses to let them do appropriately all the time. We're getting the assurance in those vital skills that we know we'll be doing continually." Winslett said, "When it's all thought and done, the skill gained, will be worthless. Nurses will be certain and proficient, compared to a nurse who only had a year and a half of job experience." [via News West 9]
