The opening of a new Texas nursing school in the autumn of 2008 at the Texas A&M health Science Center in Bryan/College Station will assist to put down a long-existing problem of a lack of space for nursing students.
The idea for new nursing school came into existence from a community requirement as well as from a need for faculty for other nursing schools in the Texas A&M systems.
The plans of the Health Science Center to open its nursing school to forty students trying to acquire either a bachelor of science in nursing degree or an accelerated plan of action for students previously with a bachelor's degree who require to accomplish fully the nursing curriculum and needed clinical skills and knowledge are waiting final approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
An RN-to-BSN plan of action for registered nurses with associates degrees to finish extra course work for the BSN has already received essential approval from the Texas A & M System Board of Regents.
A master of science in nursing degree and collaboration doctoral degree with other A & M system nursing programs are planned for 2010.
Lack of space for nursing students is now a perennial problem, but it will be slightly diminished by the opening of a new Texas nursing school. More nursing schools are needed to solve this problem fully.
