To make it easier to see who is in charge of hospital wards, nurses in Wales will begin to wear colour- coded uniforms.

Wales is the first UK country to introduce standard NHS nursing uniforms.

Through the recommended colour-coded uniforms, patients will now be aware who runs wards or who is in charge on a ward once they enter the hospitals.

Mrs. Edwina Hart, Health Minister, will start to visit Wales general Hospital in Carmarthen since their staff will be the first to wear the uniforms. The visit will be made to see how the recommendation for a national uniform has become a reality.

In addition to said recommendation, this will help control the spread of infections as the Assemble Government said that hospitals were working on providing staff laundries and changing rooms.

If the objective of this recommendation would be successful, other countries like the Philippines could adopt the said colour-coded uniforms for nurses. [via uk.buzz.yahoo.com]
