Nursing Deficiency in Florida Continues

With the report released in Florida Center for Nursing, it is found out that Florida's nursing shortage has not been resolved.

Jennifer Nooney, the center's associate director of research, feared the increase of vacancy rates in nursing related jobs once the economy improves and nurses either retire back or cut back in their hours.

She also added that there are not enough nurses coming up through ranks to replace nurses who are at near in their retirement age.

Since nursing is the most in demand job, Florida should focus on retaining their existing nurse workforce and strategically expanding education capacity to at least lessen the deficiency.

Meanwhile, if the shortage continues, this is expected to generate 66, 539 new jobs by 2017. [via tampabay.bizjournals.com]
