Jobs Are Really Tough for Newly Nursing Grads

In the 2½ years of operation, nursing students at Mesa State College adapted the chant, Not only would they immediately find work, they’d be able to pick out their dream jobs. Marni Flores finished her BS Nursing in December. She and few of her colleagues find it really tough to find job locally in the past two months. At present, many nurses who were working abroad have settled here in the Philippines because the need of nurses abroad is no longer in-demand. This is a bad news for the newly grads. Based from the web site of St. Mary’s Hospital, they are only hiring nurses with a minimum of 2 years work experience. In the 3 previous months, there are 15 to 20 job openings for nursing graduates.

Corpus Christi-area hospital system has 3 colleges that supply sufficient no. of new graduates to meet the demand and to give solution to the national nursing shortage. Based from the report of Texas Center for Nursing Workforce Studies, the requirements for full-time registered nurses in Texas in year 2008 surpass supply by 22,000. The vacancy rate of many hospitals is over 8 percent while the nationwide rate is 8.1 percent.

A nurse researcher from Medical College of Georgia proves that research is an important feature of undergraduate nursing education, and other health care career. Dr. Martha Tingen, nurse researcher at the MCG Georgia Prevention Institute said that due to nurse’s unique awareness in research, they are now capable to promote a healthy life style and how to avoid diseases rather than on how to treat diseases.

The government of England will be advised by a newly formed commission of experts chaired by Health Minister Ann Keen. The counsel will embark upon the expected tasks of nurses and midwives. Dr. Peter Carter, general secretary of the Royal College of Nursing, is grateful to the plan of the commission to recognize the vital role played by nurses. This group of health professionals will spend more time with patients to provide the basic technique to reap the wealth of ideas and experience. The essential function of nurses and midwives will be discussed by the group and also the other means to help them boost the security of their patients and the way they give care.

 
The Alarming Shortage of Nursing Jobs

Every hour each day seems that jobs are being reduced in some businesses and positions for nurses stay on little supply. In a research, there were 116,000 vacancies for registered nurse positions in the country. The shortage is anticipated to deteriorate as days passed by. According to the spokesman of American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the lack of enrolment in nursing schools and the low remuneration given to nursing teachers were the possible root of the nursing shortage. More or less $68,000 a year was given to those jobs.
