Skechers' Medical Clothing

Skechers USA, Inc., is an international company in the footwear business. According to a company representative, they have signed a licensing contract with Strategic Partners, Inc., the producer of Cherokee Medical Apparel. This January 2010, they are planning to craft and distribute Skechers apparel specifically for healthcare professionals such as nurses. Skechers will introduce youthful and more satisfying fit than the traditional medical clothes which will be available in different sizes. The line will employ RTW trends in basics like scrubs, pants, jackets and tees by means of modern silhouettes, prints and fabrications. Labelled accents like SKECHERS logo buttons, flag labels, jacquard ribbons, and zipper pulls will be used.

By means of the introduction of the first lifestyle magazine for nurses entitled "Scrubs", the jobs of nurses will be discussed and stretched out. According to Michael Singer, the Chief Executive of the Chatsworth-based company Strategic Partners Inc., the one who proposed the concept of the magazine, nurses have common traits and professional attitude. On the other hand, nurses share their issues as a caregiver. Career such as Nursing is more physically and emotionally demanding especially in a care giving.

The Bureau of Labor stated that the growth in the field of nursing will increase by 23% from 2006 and 2016. This is much faster than the average of all occupations. Nurses’ average income is about $57,000. The Health and Human Services Administration (HHSA) reported that there will be a deficit of more than 400,000 nurses in 2010 and about 1 million in 2020. Based from the studies conducted in early 2000, the deficiency in nursing profession became imminent.

Medical professionals like doctors, nurses and attendants should wear hospital scrubs as a defense and to show professionalism. Nursing scrubs will help the nurses since their job requires plenty of movement. The scrubs are made from soft cloth like cotton and fit loosely. The cotton material will help to reduce or prevent bad odor. With this, infections will be prevented from spreading from one patient to the other. It is vital for hospital staff to wear the wide variety of medical scrubs that are available in a variety of patterns and colors, the most common are the colors light blue and white.

 
Nurses face flu vaccine dilemma

Margaret Hartle, a nurse in a nursing home is too afraid to get vaccinated because she had flu-like symptoms last September. The doctor diagnosed her with a viral infection so she is not allowed to go to work for a week. She is unsure of the reaction of her body. But she has already received the seasonal flu shot and would like to get vaccinated against H1N1. Since she doesn’t know if she had H1N1 flu, she doesn’t want to take the risk by getting vaccinated. She is scared to think what will happen if the virus mutates. All nurses and other people didn't get the shot because of being unconfident.
