The demand for nurses is now increasing in different countries. According to Dr. Merle Mast, head of JMU's nursing department, the U.S. Bureau of Labor will need 600,000 new nurses. The 500,000 positions that will open as baby boomers retire are not yet counted in the available positions.

Most patients want to go home after being hospitalized. They easily ignore the medications and avoid the follow-up visits which are vital to them. According to Timothy Bickmore, a Computer Scientist, about 20 percent of patients who are discharged from the hospital are readmitted within thirty days, and those readmissions are avoidable. Only 8 minute-conversation happened between a nurse and a patient to be discharged.

 
UNLV Nursing School Achieves 100% Pass Rate

With the 2009 National Certification Licensure Examination, UNLV Nursing School achieves 100% pass rate during the fourth quarter.

Dean Carolyn Yucha of UNLV's School of Nursing said that they are really preparing our students to enter the nursing workforce and that this recognition pleased their record of their graduates to meet the evolving healthcare needs of Nevadans.

The pass rate also points an increase in students' success since the rate of 84.7 in 2008 and is seven percent higher than the national average.
